Putting Water on Wheat - Is It Worth It?

The Facts on Friday this week poses the question. Recent spikes in the grain prices primarily brought on by the drought in the mid west USA could tempt some irrigators to use water on wheat to increase yields and thus returns. But, is this case worth pursuing, or could the water be put to better use? It also examines the value of apply one supplementary irrigation to what would have been a dryland crop.
