Joanne Grainger appointed to the Board of CSD

Cotton Seed Distributors Ltd (CSD) has announced the appointment of Mrs Joanne Grainger (pictured) to the company’s Board of Directors. The appointment follows the recent retirement of John Grellman who stood down from the CSD Board after 37 years of dedicated service to CSD. Mrs Grainger will seek re-election by the Members of CSD at its 2012 Annual General Meeting in May.

Joanne Grainger is a primary producer and irrigator from the Border Rivers Region of NSW/QLD and is a partner in a successful farming enterprise which has operated for the past thirty years. She is currently Chairperson of Queensland Farmers Federation and was the immediate past Chair of Cotton Australia.

Joanne has been involved in policy development and advocacy on behalf of the cotton industry at a state and federal level. She is the inaugural recipient of the Cotton Industry Partnerships Initiative – Corporate Governance for Rural Woman, 2002 and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and recently completed the AICD flagship program, “Mastering the Boardroom”. Joanne has a special interest in capacity building in rural industries and communities and in advancing the achievement of sustainable farming practices.

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman of the CSD Board, James Kahl said “We look forward to working with Joanne and we firmly believe the skills, competencies and knowledge that she will bring to the company will benefit CSD and the Australian Cotton Industry”.
