CSD appoints new agronomist for the south

Cotton Seed Distributors (CSD) has appointed experienced agronomist Bob Ford to take on an extension and development role in the southern and far western cotton growing areas.

CSD general manager Steve Ainsworth said Mr Ford brought with him a wealth of experience in cotton and soybean agronomy stretching through the entire industry.

“Bob has worked for the seed company Deltapine for almost 15 years in various roles from sales, to technical to plant breeding so he knows his way around a planting seed business,” he said.

“He also well known in the industry, while being primarily based in the Namoi, he has worked extensively and developed good contacts in all growing areas which is great for us,” he said.

“Prior to his career in cotton, Bob worked in the then NSW Agriculture soybean breeding team so he’s got some great skills there which will be of benefit to our soybean business,” he said.

Steve Ainsworth said Mr Ford would be based at CSDs offices at Wee Waa but would primarily focus on the Macquarie, Hillston, Lachlan, Murrumbidgee and Bourke growing regions.

“With the soybean side of the business, Bob will also have involvement in the coastal areas of NSW,” he said.

Mr Ford said he was looking forward to the challenge and getting out and catching up with growers in all of these regions.

“The recent rainfall has really added some optimism back into the industry and improved the prospects of crops to boot,” he said.
