Site Summary

This is the third season CSD has placed a Dryland BRF trial at Alice Downs. Dry weather throughout the Bollgard window limited the planting opportunities for dryland cotton this season. Rainfall at the end of October enabled the cotton crop to be planted. however, at the time of planting the conditions were not ideal. Varieties in this trial are Sicot 71BRF, Sicot 80, Siokra V-18BRF and two experimental varieties CSX 323BRF and CSX 326BRF.

Update for Monday 11th January, 2010

Rain which fell over the Xmass new year period has helped this trial along. Seed has germinated that has been sitting in the soi since planting. this has improved the plant stand . it does mean that there are two different maturities within this crop which may cause some difficulties with its management. however, the soil profile is full right across the skip area and if warmer weather persists the newer germinating plants will quickly start to fruit up.
