This crop had issues at th start with establishement and was watwer injected and then flushed. Strong winds caused the crop to stress and remain relative short for the first half of the season. Interstingly the Awaken seed treatment for the first three months was clearly out in front in terms of growth and a dry matter analysis confirmed this in November.
Overall yeilds were down in the trial with Sicot 74BRF putting on 181 bolls to the linear metre and a boll weight of 2.13 grams per boll. High yields on 60 inch row spacing are normally with over 200 bolls per metre and the impact of heat on boll weight was evident this season.

Very difficult establishment with cold, windy conditions in October claiming plenty of seedlings. Some root disease and wireworm pressure early. Early thrip pressure, mid – late season Mirid pressure, Late Whitefly pressure, followed by cold and wet finish reducing top crop dramatically.
